Parent Guidance
Practical, collaborative support for parents and caregivers
50 minutes · CA$180
Parent Guidance is an adult consultation service. Parents meet with a therapist to understand patterns, strengthen responses and develop realistic ways to support a child or teen. Children do not attend these sessions.
YOU MAY BE HERE BECAUSE…
You are unsure how to respond to anxiety, avoidance or intense emotions
Conflict and communication at home feel stuck
School, routines, sleep or executive-functioning concerns are affecting family life
You and a co-parent need a clearer, more consistent approach
A child or teen is not ready for therapy
You want support without placing all responsibility on the young person
HOW GUIDANCE MAY HELP
Sessions may help caregivers understand behaviour in context, respond more calmly, create workable boundaries, improve communication and support development without expecting perfection. Guidance is collaborative and cannot guarantee a particular family outcome.
WHAT SESSIONS MAY LOOK LIKE
Parents bring a current concern and relevant context. The therapist helps identify patterns, clarify priorities, introduce evidence-informed ideas and create one or two practical next steps to try. The work can evolve as the family’s needs change.
WHO ATTENDS?
Parent Guidance is for parent(s) or caregiver(s) and a therapist. Children are not present. If individual therapy for a preteen or teen would be useful, the therapist can discuss that pathway separately.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Is Parent Guidance the same as family therapy?
No. This service focuses on supporting the adults who care for a child or teen.
Can both parents attend?
Often, yes. Attendance and confidentiality expectations are clarified before the first appointment.
